Yesterday was Ash Wednesday.
Edith couldn't go out to lunch because she said she had packed a special lunch so she could follow through on her commitment to give up meat for 40 days.
40 days is a long time to give up anything.
It's a lot like a new years resolution, but you only have to quit for 40 days.
I don't smoke, and I hardly drink, but I'm not going to drink for 40 days.
We'll see how this all goes.
There is a lot more to it than giving something up, and I've never practiced fasting on Ash Wednesday.
(Well not actively since I was a child)
I have a lot to think about over these next 40 days.
Over these next 40 days my smile will get a little brighter, as the time that Amy is away will shorten with each new day....
I can't wait to see her again!
